Merry Fisher 855 Seakeeper Ride 525 Installation

overview

This project involved installing the Seakeeper Ride 525 system on a Merry Fisher 855, transforming the onboard experience of this compact cruiser. Our MS1 technicians refitted the hull to accommodate the system’s actuators and ensured the onboard software was fully integrated with the vessel’s helm. With this upgrade, the client now enjoys enhanced vessel stability, better trim, and superior handling in all sea conditions and benefits that are immediately noticeable during acceleration and tight maneuvers. This was a perfect match between next-generation technology and a practical-sized boat.

SCope of work

EXTERNAL WORK

PREPARING THE TRANSOM
STAGE 1

We began by preparing the transom area, ensuring a clean and even surface for mounting the Seakeeper Ride system. Any existing fittings were removed, and the surface was reinforced where needed.

MOUNTING THE BRACKETS
STAGE 2

Our technicians carefully marked and drilled the mounting points for the Ride 525 units. Precision was key to ensure correct alignment and secure placement of both port and starboard actuators.

SEAKEEPER RIDE ARRIVES
STAGE 3

Our team performed a full pre-installation check of all system components, including the actuators, control module, and wiring.

INSTALLING THE ACTUATORS
STAGE 4

The actuators were mounted onto the transom using stainless steel brackets and hardware. Sealant was applied to all entry points to ensure long-term water resistance.

ELECTRICAL & DISPLAY SETUP
STAGE 5

We routed and connected the electrical wiring from the Ride units to the control module inside the boat. The Seakeeper Ride display was installed at the helm for user-friendly control and real-time data feedback.

SYSTEM CONFIGURATION
STAGE 6

With everything installed, our technicians programmed the Ride system and updated the firmware. We calibrated the sensors and tuned the system to match the hull specifications of the Merry Fisher 855.

SEA TRIAL & TESTING
STAGE 7

The final step was a sea trial to test the system's performance. The Ride 525 significantly improved the boat's stability, eliminating unwanted pitch and roll for a much smoother ride at speed.
