Riva rivale restoration

overview

The Riva Rivale 2007 model is an open cruiser which required teak decking services and fabric replacement. The yacht’s interior fabrics were already faded and needed refurbishment and replacement.

SCope of work

TEAK DECKING

Inspection of old teak
STAGE 1

The old teak deck was inspected for its overall condition.

A sheet template was created for every piece of new teak required.

Creation of MDF Template
STAGE 3

Another template was made out of MDF and was used onboard the boat to check the sizes of each piece.

Removal of old teak
STAGE 4

Once the template was cross checked against the old teak, it was scrapped off and removed completely.

Sanding of deck
STAGE 5

The deck was sanded down and filled out with epoxy to make it levelled.

Fabrication of the new teak
STAGE 6

New teak was fabricated based on the MDF template with a 5 cm width of teak and a 5 mm depth of the grooves.

Application of caulking
STAGE 7

Teak primer was added in, and the 290 DC Sikaflex in black was applied.

Installation of new teak
STAGE 8

The deck was cleaned with acetone, and the 298 Sikaflex was applied to the new teak pieces, which act as a bounding agent. Once stuck together, the new teak pieces were placed onto the deck.

STAGE 9

Once the teak pieces were aligned together correctly, 290 DC Sikaflex was applied to the borders of the teak for a clean finish.

The new teak is sanded down with grid 300 sanding paper for a smooth finish.

FABRIC REFIT

Removal of old cushions
Stage 1

The old cushions were removed and sent for measurements.

Installation of new cushions
Stage 2

New off-white cushions made in Maple fabric from Germany were created and refitted onto the yacht.
