For this project, the MS1 team did a full yacht painting job for the 83 ft. Pershing 8X. The yacht had old paint on the exteriors, thus the need for a painting service. The project involved painting requirements using original Shipyard paint and the latest Anest Iwata equipment.

SCope of work

YACHT PAINTING

Tent Preparation
STAGE 1

The yacht was placed under a tent with an air-conditioning unit to bring down the temperature before the work began.

Dismantling
Stage 2

All equipment on board the yacht was removed.

Sanding
STAGE 3

As per the procedure, the yacht was sanded down using a long board. 

Washing the Hull
STAGE 4

The hull was washed with fresh water to remove any dust and the areas which were not being painted were covered.

Sanding Process continues
STAGE 5

The hull was sanded again to make the surface smooth.

Washing the Hull
STAGE 6

The hull was washed and cleaned once more, including the full tent to avoid any dust getting onto the boat once the painting started.

Application of primer
STAGE 7 A

As per requirement, 2-3 coats of primer was added to the hull. The team started the process from the top of boat and worked their way down.

Application of Paint
STAGE 7 B

As per requirement, 2-3 coats of Shipyard paint were added to the hull. The team continued the process from the bottom of the yacht and worked their way up. Painting the yacht in this way gave it a smoother finish.

Application of top coat
STAGE 7 C

1 coat of clear top coat was added to smooth the surface of the yacht and gave it a clean finish.

Sanding and Polish
STAGE 8

The hull of the boat was sanded once more to remove any minor bumps on the surface and was polished down.

Reinstallation of all items
STAGE 9

All items on board the yacht was assembled and reinstalled back in place.
